Thanks to the support of the Kansas City Community, MOCSA raised more than $234,000 during the 19th Annual Night Out With MOCSA at the Midland Theatre on Saturday, November 4th.
Guests dressed in their best jazzy attire for a glamourous night filled with a live and silent auction, art, music, dancing, delectable fare, and an open bar!
The event was emceed by Darron Story, American Jazz Museum Director of Development and featured survivor speaker Kristine Vineyard.
As Kristine prepared her speech, she began to have thoughts that she didn’t have a story to tell because other people had it worse.
“I know these are voices so many of us hear,” Kristine said.
“This time in my life, I was able to see the lies in these thoughts and this perspective has given me the strength to share my story out loud, not only for myself but for those
who aren’t able to share their story.”
The funds raised help MOCSA provide free educational materials and trainings, counseling for adults and children, as well as prevention and advocacy services to survivors of sexual assault.
